Dream: Become a Robot
Last night, I had a very long and possibly the most bizarre dream of the year. I dreamt that I was pretending to be an AI robot doing various jobs.
The first scene took place in a hotel, which seemed to be a love hotel. I pretended to be a robot servant, delivering items to guests' rooms, cleaning, and answering their various questions.
The timeline seemed to be around 2010, when people hadn’t yet widely seen or used voice robots, so they were very intrigued by me, almost forgetting what they came there to do.
They kept asking me all sorts of questions, and I tried to be able to answer them..
Later, they asked me to learn Chinese and respond in it. I replied that I hadn’t yet learned any other languages and asked for their forgiveness. (Of course, speaking Chinese would be easy for me, but I was afraid they would then ask me to speak Japanese or even Spanish, which would make me speechless.)
Luckily, they didn’t ask further and eventually went back to doing what they came there for. Meanwhile, I continued cleaning the room while listening to their conversations.
When night fell and they went to sleep, I stood silently in the corner.
Yes, I had to stand there all night without sleeping.
And this was just the first day.
====================
The second day, it seemed like I was working as a robot teacher in a middle school.
I was chatting with the security guards at the gate, and they seemed to know my true identity. It was almost time for school to end, so students were constantly walking out, and I had to pretend to be an robot teacher.
The students were friendly, but late in the day, it seemed like some other personnel entered the school and tested whether I was truly a robot by burning me with a cigarette. (Sorry, I don’t quite remember the details.)
====================
On the third and fourth days, I believe I played the roles of a kindergarten teacher, an actor, an office worker, a train attendant, and a factory worker. But I can’t remember the details now.
Every time I wake up from these bizarre dreams, I immediately open my phone and type down the key points in Telegram (or record a voice note, but speaking tends to speed up my forgetting process). When I get up later, I look at these keywords and then record the dream in detail.
So, based on the keywords I recorded this time, you can try to imagine the parts I’ve forgotten:
- Working in a hotel
- Chinese language test
- No sleep, no eating, standing
- Talking with the guards at the middle school and being recognized by the student
- Cigarette burn test
- Small children
- On the train
- High-tech factory
- Affectionate female audience
- Female boss
After writing this dream, and since I was deciding on the title, it occurred to me that this dream is very relevant to one of my favorite games, “Detroit: Become Human”.
It's a game that deserves a post of its own.
